Tina Gonsalves

"Over the last ten years my media exploration has focused on exploring the human condition, from internal/external and emotional landscapes, through to studies on movement, perceptions, and personal space.

"Most recently I have been focusing on directing and producing promos and music video clips as well as art-based experimental films, documentaries, installation web and interactive digital art. My clients have included Festival Mushroom Records (Yothu Yindi), BMG (Augie March), the Museum of Australia, MTV New York and Savage Garden. Over the last eight years I have created 40 experimental films and have been screened, awarded, and televised inter/nationally. These are also part of museum and gallery collections worldwide.

"I have just returned from six months of creating new artwork, taking part in Artist in Residence programs at The Banff Center in Canada, and also at the Centre for Contemporary Art in Prague. In November I will start a four-month artist in residence at Chulalongkorn University, Thailand. I have also been creating art-based documentaries about Prague, Morrocco, New York, and the Carribean.

"I have just released 12 short works, ranging from 1-7 minutes. This series of video work relates to the theme of loss. Each piece is a visual and sonic response to trauma.

"Most recently my short films have been involved with the Women on Women film Festival and inter/national tour, Tel Aviv video festival in Isreal, Experimenta Film Festival, Kasseler Dokumetarfilm-und videofest in Germany, Fine Art Forums Inter/national Media Arts Festival and Tour, the European Media Arts Festival in Germany, St Kilda Film Festival and Sydney Film Festival. My installation work will be exhibited in New York City in September and Munich, Germany in November. Recently my work was televised in Czech Republic, New York, and Australia."
