    Artist Statement
"Travel is a central theme in my work. Suitcases, letters, maps, and astronomical images act as symbols of travel representing inner and outer explorations. Such symbols are interpreted to suggest metaphorical itineraries. The world of dreams, yet another form of travel, is also at the center of my work. Currently, I am interested in aspects of dreaming which represent an enlargement of experience on the waking world. Flying dreams are such an instance: when you fly in a dream you experience that which is impossible in reality. From accounts I have gathered, it appears there are specific styles and techniques to dream flying. Therefore flying in dreams goes beyond the merely personal and suggests the cohesiveness of a 'real' practice. In order to peer through the dream's elusiveness, I am seeking to 'document' or 'record' techniques, styles, and narratives of dream flying. Making use of a wide range of media, I work with installation, sound, photography, or paint according to the needs of a project."
