    About the Artist

Friederike Paetzold is the principal designer of 11K and an award-winning computer artist who has received recognitions from The Art Director's Club, the Jerome Foundation, and New York Foundation for the Arts. Her digital pieces have been reviewed in Microsoft Encarta (June 1999), Art in America (April 1999), and Christian Science Monitor (November 1998).

Before discovering the digital medium in 1993, she painted public murals for the City of New York, interned at the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice and painted landscapes near Calcutta for a year. Friederike received a fine arts degree with honors from Reed College and studied art history at the Universities of Munich and (at the time) East Berlin.

I-Section is a 1998 commission of the Turbulence web site. It was made possible with funds from the Jerome Foundation.
